About the Court
The Superior Court of California, County of Solano, employs about 270 people. Court employees support twenty-four judicial officers located in both Fairfield and Vallejo. Employees may be required to work in either location. Court employees are subject to the Trial Court Employment Protection and Governance Act and are not covered by Civil Service Rules.

Solano County
Solano County (population approx. 380,000) covers 891 square miles. The County seat of Fairfield is located outside the congested metropolitan area where its location makes rural and suburban living possible. The cultural advantages of the San Francisco Bay Area are available within a 50 minute drive. The Sierra Nevada's to the east, as well as nearby lakes and rivers offer a wide variety of recreational opportunities. In addition to Solano Community College, the County's two-year college, the University of California's Berkeley and Davis campuses and California State University of Sacramento are within easy commuting distance.
Benefits
Holidays & Vacations
Full time employees receive fifteen paid holidays per year and accrue vacation at the rate of ten days per year. After three years of continuous service, employees accrue vacation at the rate of fifteen days per year and at the rate of twenty days per year after ten years.
Sick Leave
Full time employees accumulate twelve sick leave days per year.
Retirement
Court employees participate in the County of Solano's 2.7% @ 55
retirement plan through the Public Employees' Retirement System
(PERS). The plan has reciprocity with all State PERS and County 1937 Act Retirement System agencies.
Employees also participate in Social Security.
Health Benefits
The Court offers medical, dental and vision insurance coverage to
employees and their dependents. There are six medical plans, two dental plans and one vision plan
available. The Court makes a substantial contribution toward the
insurance premiums.
Employee Assistance Program
Employees may use this program for up to six visits per incident per
year at no cost to the employee. The services provided are
completely confidential.

Employment Process
Applications
In addition to this website, applications can be obtained by calling 707-207-7472
or by visiting the Executive Office, 3rd Floor at 600 Union Avenue,
Fairfield. Completed applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on the final filing date specified on the announcement. Applicants requesting special testing accommodations should
obtain the Special Testing Accommodations Request form and return it
with their employment application prior to the final filing date.
Hiring Procedures
Employment lists are established by ranking candidates according to their overall scores in an examination. Candidates must be successful in each part of the examination. The Court Executive Officer may interview and consider for appointment the top ten available candidates for each opening. A probation period is the final part of the selection process
for most positions.
Appointment
At the time of appointment, the successful candidate will be
required to complete a background check and required to execute an oath of allegiance to the United States and the State of California. You will also be required to offer proof that you are a lawfully admitted alien or U.S. citizen.
Probationary Period
Most positions require that candidates successfully complete a probationary period of six to twelve months, depending upon the position.
Extra Help Appointments
Appointments may be made from an eligible list for extra help (part time, no benefits) positions.
Salary Policies
The starting salary is ordinarily the first rate shown on the announcement. After satisfactory completion of approximately six
months of Court service, a 5% salary advancement may be authorized.
Thereafter, further increases are possible upon completion of an
additional approximate six months, one year, and eighteen months,
assuming satisfactory performance. Longevity pay is
available after 10 years of service.
